Not every dog needs clothing
Some dogs may benefit from extra protection in cold or wet weather, but the decision depends on the individual animal. Age, size, coat, health and the dog's own reaction all matter.
Choosing a comfortable fit
Clothing should not restrict the chest, rub the skin or interfere with walking and toileting. Check the manufacturer's measurements rather than choosing only by breed. Your dog should be able to move naturally while wearing it.
Introduce clothing at home for short periods. If the dog becomes very distressed or repeatedly tries to escape from the garment, forcing it is not helpful. In warm weather, be especially careful because extra layers can interfere with comfortable cooling.
